The Indian Army is known for its dedicated and brave soldiers. The Indian Army used to enroll only the male candidates before. In 1992, the induction of females started into the officer cadre. Today, more than 1200 women cadets are commissioned into the Indian Army.
There are specific entries for the female candidates to apply for or to join the Indian Army. The Women Entry scheme is divided into three categories. All three entries listed below are based on graduation, which means there are no 10+2 entries for the women for now. They are:
- UPSC ENTRY: The UPSC Entry is a non-technical entry. Through this entry, the women candidate can join through the SSC(Short Service Commission).
- The examination through which the female candidates can apply is the CDS examination. This exam is conducted twice a year by UPSC, which is notified in the month of July and November.
- The female candidates who are in their last year of graduation course or are graduated in the course are eligible to apply.
- The age limit for the candidates to apply through this category is from 19 to 25 years.
- Only unmarried female candidates can apply.

- NON-UPSC ENTRY: The NON-UPSC Entry is also an SSC entry. It has two subentries: the NCC Entry and the JAG Entry. Both of these entries are Short Service Commission entries.
- NCC Entry: The NCC special entry is an entry where only the NCC cadets can apply.
- The cadet should have a minimum of 50% in their graduation and must have NCC’s ‘C’ certificate and ‘B’ Grade.
- The age limit for the candidates to apply through this category is from 19 to 25 years.
- Only unmarried female candidates can apply. It is conducted twice a year and its notification is out in June and December.
- JAG Entry: The JAG stands for Judge Advocate General. This entry is only for Law graduates.
- It is also conducted twice a year. The notification of this entry is out in the months of July-August and January-February.
- The candidate should have a minimum of 55% marks in LLB and should be eligible in the Bar Council of registration, which is a mandatory priority.
- The age limit for the candidates to apply through this category is from 21 to 27 years.
- Only unmarried female candidates can apply.
- The candidate can apply through the official website
- TECHNICAL ENTRY: The SSC-TECH entry is a technical entry. The female candidates of the engineering stream can only apply through this category.
- The SSC-TECH entry is conducted twice a year. The exam notification is out in JUNE-JULY and DECEMBER-JANUARY.
- Again this entry is also an SSC Entry.
- The candidate who is in the last year of engineering or has completed engineering is eligible to apply through this category.
- The age limit for the candidates to apply through this category is from 20 to 27 years.
- Only unmarried female candidates can apply.
- The candidate can apply through the official website.
